Bio:
As Director of State Advocacy for WISPA, Steven Schwerbel works across all 50 states to advocate for broadband policies that embrace technology-neutral rules that ensure broadband programs deliver reliably high-speed and scalable networks that cost-effective and timely to deploy. WISPA's state advocacy builds on grassroots engagement and evidence-based policies to find solutions to close the digital divide, expand affordable access, and support the effective use of state and private investments in broadband infrastructure.
Before joining WISPA, Schwerbel spent 7 years as a staffer in the Wisconsin legislature, where he focused on rural development and broadband policy and served as Committee Clerk for the Assembly Committee on Science and Technology and later for the Senate Utilities Committee.
Schwerbel graduated from the UW-Madison and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Azerbaijan.
